You’d think it would be something we would buy from a pet store but instead…it’s our Christmas tree!
We finally got it out and had some fun putting it up (besides getting it out of the attic!). Notice there are very few ornaments near the bottom of the tree. We can’t trust Lexi with the tree. In fact, if you notice, a few of the branches are broken. She tried to climb up the tree last year and broke it a little. In fact, we heard her playing with 2 different ornaments this morning. One of them was glitter. Just imagine the glitter all around Lexi’s mouth.
Here are some of my favorite ornaments:
Mr. Potato Head and our Honeymoon ornaments
Our 1st Anniversary and 1st House (our house doesn’t look like that) ornaments
Our 1st Christmas and a pierogi! I love pierogis and Dad thought this was pretty cute!
The nativity ornament from the Mother/Daughter Banquet last year. I forgot to get a picture of the one this year.
The pickle ornament is pretty special. It’s a tradition in our house to hide the pickle (there are now 3; one for me, my bro, and T) and it’s always a competition to remember and find them first. We get an extra present and I love it. When we were dating, I found 2 pickles in Poland and bought them for T for our future children.
This is our tree topper. Perfect for us Disney fans. In fact, we have a lot of Disney ornaments. Several I didn’t show you because we haven’t put pictures in them yet.
Ok, fine. Here they are:
I need to remember to put pictures in them this year!
Next I put up the stockings. Notice anything weird?
That’s right…we didn’t hang our stockings up over the fireplace. Once again, Lexi CAN’T be trusted! Last year she pulled them off the mantle and almost killed herself. After pulling them down twice we took them down. This year we have a different plan, the bookcase! Hopefully she will leave them alone there. The hook are several pounds apiece and could seriously hurt her!
Then it was the nativity. This is one of my favorite decorations because it means so much to me. It’s from Elim, Poland.
There is a Christian center located in an old palace. I stayed there and fell in love with this hand sewn nativity set. I brought it all the way back from Poland and then my Dad bought one because he loved it.
All the pieces are pretty large. It takes up our whole mantle!
Mary, Joseph and Jesus along with the Wisemen
The Angel and Shepherds
Camels and Donkey
Pretty much the coolest nativity.
The last thing I put up was this:
More about this in the next post. And you can be sure that I didn’t put it on the tree. It’s made of glass and would break if Lexi got ahold of it!
